Job Description

Salary: $97,760 - 108,160 per year Requirements:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience; the target profile is 7–12 years.
  • Strong, recent hands-on Go/Golang development and debugging experience, including idiomatic Go and API refactoring.
  • Strong knowledge of Go modules, semantic versioning, dependency management, transitive dependencies, and package compatibility.
  • Hands-on experience with Go build and Go test, plus Bazel and large-scale or monorepo build environments.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot compiler, linker, build, test, and runtime failures, including CI and presubmit issues.
  • Experience with Git-based development, code reviews, change management, merge conflicts, and local patches.
  • Strong Linux and scripting skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a complex engineering environment.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Bellevue, Washington, three days per week, beginning on day one; relocation candidates must confirm they can meet the onsite requirement.
  • Candidates should be available to start within 1–2 weeks. We strongly prefer candidates authorized to work in the United States.
  • Nice to have: Copybara or similar source-synchronization tools; open-source dependency upgrades; vulnerability remediation or package maintenance; complex dependency graphs; generated code and multi-target changes; high-impact API migrations; reusable upgrade playbooks or engineering automation; enterprise monorepos; and CI/presubmit infrastructure experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Assess assigned packages, dependency trees, API changes, build impacts, and upgrade complexity.
  • Upgrade Go modules and package versions, manage version changes and local patches, and reapply, update, or retire patches as needed.
  • Resolve breaking API changes, update affected downstream callers, and address dependency relationships and compatibility issues.
  • Diagnose and remediate Go and Bazel build failures, existing test failures, and compiler, linker, runtime, CI, and presubmit issues related to upgrades.
  • Validate that upgraded packages build successfully and existing tests pass; creating new unit or integration test suites is not required.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Copybara configurations and source-synchronization issues.
  • Use approved internal tools and reusable automation to analyze dependencies, triage failures, and support large-scale package migrations.
  • Develop repeatable investigation, validation, and evidence-collection approaches.
  • Submit review-ready changes with clear technical rationale and validation evidence.
  • Document package versions, dependency remediation, validation results, patch status, migration records, deviations, and external blockers.
  • Identify cross-product dependency impacts and communicate them to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with reviewers, engineering teams, and language subject-matter experts; communicate issues and blockers clearly and proactively.
  • Provide actionable evidence when escalating complex issues, maintain progress against assigned priorities, and ensure clean handoffs with reusable technical learnings.
